I walked two miles yesterday, but got started later than I had hoped, and it was a hard two miles. I had to force myself the last three quarters of a mile. It was already over 80 degrees and I was in full sun, so I guess that explains my difficulty. Although, I was unmotivated and low energy all day. It was hot tho.
Howard trimmed the mesquite tree that Ody is parked under before he started on the TV antenna.
The antenna was supposed to be a simple swap, remove the old one, attach the new one, but ended up taking several hours, a trip to the hardware store, and it still wasn’t working. As a last resort, we ran a completely different cable to the antenna bypassing Ody’s wiring, directly to the TV with the booster that came with the antenna, and we finally got it to work. Not only was the cable broken at the top, it is bad elsewhere in it’s path. So today, we (Howard) is going to run a brand new coax down thru the roof and replace the old wiring. Going to toss the original booster and just use the new one. Nothing is ever easy. Was supposed to be a five minute job. But I did get to watch TV last night, which was a nice treat. I am so glad that I didn’t decide to do this on my own, Howard has coax experience and the tools, I don’t. I probably would have gotten it working eventually, but not without a lot of frustration and swearing.
My guess is that the whole inside of the cable looks like this.
I also picked up a second self healing inner tube for the bicycle while we were at the hardware store. Not sure if I am going to bother to put them in while I am here or not. We have been right out straight since the moment I got here, and I am looking forward to a couple of quiet days. I’m going to be here for a while, so we don’t have to do it all at once.
I have been running the AC during the day for a place to cool off and to keep Kali Cat from over heating, and turning it off at night and opening Ody up and turning on the fans. Usually, it cools down nicely, but last night it didn’t. At some point during the night, I closed things back up and turned the AC back on. Was having a hard time sleeping in the heat.. I did turn it off when I got up, and have the fans back on, but will have to fire it back up when the sun comes up.
Not sure if I am going to walk today or not. If I do, it will only be one mile. After yesterday’s difficulty, I don’t want to over do it. I’m wondering if I am not eating enough. I have missed several meals in the last week or so. Last night we had Subway sandwiches for dinner. I ate my whole 6 inch sub, some chips and a mini candy bar. Was a treat to have real food for once. Not something I can do every day tho. I like the fact that I am loosing weight. I have been avoiding carbs, sugar, and anything else that is bad for me. I am still tired this morning. Will try to sneak in a nap later. A lot will depend on Howard and the running of the cable.
I never got the big computer fired up or the bills paid either. Need to get that done today.
I didn’t see any trick or treaters here last night. Howard and Barbara had candy, the light was on, but the gate at the end of the walk way was closed. Not locked, just closed. But I am ok with that. I hate the trick or treating anyway. But there are enough mini candy bars to last until next Halloween. Glad I don’t have to eat them, because I would.
The two LED light fixtures I ordered yesterday have shipped and should be here on Tuesday. I will get them installed before I leave here. And hopefully we will get the bathroom light modified and the bulbs changed in the next day or two. Then I should be good. The LED lights give off a lot of light, so I shouldn’t have to use the ones that haven’t been replaced. If I ever get one of the bunks cleared, I will have to order another, but will worry about that when it happens.
I guess that is about all I have this morning. I’m hoping I am more energetic today, but it isn’t looking promising. I’m just not used to all this activity. The last month or so, my pattern was get a decent start in the morning and walk or ride before it gets hot, and then a quiet afternoon reading or whatever. It was also cooler in NM which does make a difference. Maybe it is just the heat. I’m not used to it yet. Supposed to be cooler the next four or five days, lets hope it makes a difference.
I've spent all day reading your blog from the beginning. Your blog is very well written and easy to follow. As I was reading a could truly feel your concern for KC and the loneliness of making this journey on your own. I hope this trip becomes the best stepping stone for the next phase of your life.
ReplyDeleteI am struggling with the decision to sell everything I own and rv fulltime. Reading blogs from many different view points will hopefully help me prepare.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it. I try to keep it interesting. I started this blog for family and friends to follow along. It isn't all fun and games, but I don't regret my decision. I'm learning as I go. If it helps, I am a home body and only traveled with Jake. Driving was a big deal to me, I don't like it. But am adjusting. I went on the premise that I wouldn't know if I liked it or not if I never did it. It was time to leave Island Pond. I don't know where I am going to end up, but I'm sure it will be interesting! :)
