Happy Halloween

Made it thru yesterday in spite of being up since 2 AM. The morning started out a little slow, but it picked up and I perked up.

One of my two movies was in my box at the post office, but I didn’t watch it last night because I didn’t want to fall asleep in the middle of it. Maybe tonight.

I don’t have a lot on the agenda for the weekend. Will play it by ear. I do have the ice cream social at the club house at 2, I am planning on going to that, and am also planning on having some ice cream. I have been telling myself all week that I could. At some point I need to go get some produce. I may take a trip to Blythe on my own to do that, but we’ll see. It won’t be today.

I have neighbors on the right side. First time since I moved in that anyone has been there. They aren’t old enough to live in the park, so they can only stay two weeks. But they might finally get the yard cleaned up and give the place some attention. Not used to having neighbors so close. I’m hoping it is the owners and not a rental. A renter could be there indefinitely. They are flying the canadian flag.

So I have been pondering the chair situation. I think I am going to drag one of my outdoor recliners inside and use that. I know they are comfy and do what I need them to do. If I like it, I will drag the second one in and get rid of both of the new chairs. They are small, so probably wouldn’t take long to sell. Lots of small places and rigs here. I won’t get what I paid for them, but something is better than nothing. I would then get a pair of zero gravity chairs for the patio. Less expensive, and comfy. I’m sitting in one now, and do every morning when it is too hot to be in the sun. Plus, I need at least one for my new camper, and they fold and store nicely. The chairs will be easy to cover according to season too. A good short term solution. I will bring one in today.

I need to clean my washing machine. I have noticed a smell after the house being closed up all day, and I got a whiff of it this morning when I walked by the washer. I just researched cleaning it, and will do that today too. It is two complete cycles, the first with bleach, and the second with vinegar. Both with hot water.

More people in town means more dogs. Nothing but barking dogs lately. It drives me nuts. I hate that. I’m listening to one right now. I don’t think they are actually in the park, but surrounding it. Although there were a couple of little yappers within the park last night joining in.

Time to haul out my slippers. I just checked the outdoor temp, it is 55 degrees. No wonder my toes are cold. At least I am wearing my polar fleece robe and flannel jammies.

Well, I guess that is about it. Still sniffly and coughing and tired. But better than last weekend I think. I will be glad when I have a chair that I can sleep in…hopefully today. I used to sleep in the one I had in VT, so it sounds promising.

A job is just a job

Another rough night. I have been up since 2. I finished the book I started at lunch yesterday, paid bills, renewed my straight talk wifi and have answered emails and done my morning reading. I’m not feeling tip top, but better than I have. Stomach and sinuses are still a little funky, but am better than I was at the beginning of the week.

I have decided I don’t really like my job, and the owners are “different”. But I guess I don’t really need to like my job it if pays the bills. I like the hardware part of it, but the place is run like a jail. I’m told to go to lunch, when I can leave for the day, breaks are not offered, I’m not supposed to leave my register, and I don’t really feel like I fit in. One of the other guys and I were discussing the job in a quiet moment, and later in the day one of the owners made a comment to the other guy about how amazing it is what he can hear from his desk in the back. OK, so they heard us talking, we didn’t say anything that was wrong. Just another black shadow over the whole job thing. Whatever. I need to get it situated in my brain that it doesn’t matter. I have no control over anything or any way to mark my performance., I don’t even cash out my register at the end of the day. They do all of that. It isn’t a career, it is just a way to pay the bills. I just don’t like working, period. I got used to the whole “retired” thing, and liked it…a lot. On the plus side, I will be able to pay my bills, and I get a discount, which will be very handy when it comes time to build my camper.

Yesterday I was sent to lunch at 11. It made for a very long afternoon. Up until then, I had been getting lunch at noon, which split the day in half. Whatever. One more day and this week is done.

I got my car insurance paid this morning, made a partial payment on my other two cards, for the first time in a long time I didn’t pay in full. Hoping I might get those caught up next month. Now that I am down to just a few hundred bucks a month, I need to learn how to live within my means again.

I brought home some chicken wire and spray paint yesterday. I saw some christmas trees made from the wire online yesterday and I want to do that for my yard. I’m gonna have to buy several strings of solar lights tho. I want to make mine bigger and several of them. Probably three different sizes. The good thing about these is that they will store flat. Great for outdoors, and can be stored on the back of the shed.

I also brought home a couple cans of red rustoleum spray paint for the shelving unit that Lois gave me the other day. I looked at the other colors, but red won again.

Not much progress on Ody. I am in contact with a guy from Utah that is interested, but to be honest, I don’t think that will work out. I could be wrong tho. I just want this whole process to be done and the money in the bank.

Sold a pair of halloween earrings on eBay yesterday. Mailing them out this morning. I will need to take down all the halloween stuff and put some new stuff up. I do have some xmas stuff I can put up there. But I may go in a completely different direction. I need to ponder that a little bit more.

I really need to find a chair that I can sleep in. Soon. It is so frustrating to be up and know that if I had a chair that I could probably get some more sleep. It worked for many years in VT, and would probably work here too. Just need a comfy chair to do that in. As soon as Ody is sold, I will be going to Yuma in search of a chair. I wish I could have kept my old one. It still had some life left in it and was so very comfortable. Sigh…

Grow bench

Got the grow bench constructed and in place. This is what it looks like. The big pots when watered would be too heavy for the spindly legs, so I left them on the iron stands.

There are actually more pots on there than in the photo as I got the rest of my seeds sown too. I dipped the lilac cuttings in rootone and got those potted too. It looks like they were already trying to root, so I have high hopes. I did have to move the avocado tree that I started, one day in the sun and it had already burned. It is now over on the bench by the shed along with my sickly looking geraniums.

I am probably going to have to rig up some sort of cover for the bench for cold nights. But will figure that out when the time comes. I have ideas already.

I used up the whole bag of soil that I brought home on Tuesday, so will have to buy some more when I go to the dollar store the next time. It is much less expensive than the stuff I bought at Herbs.

Took the scooter out and got rid of my garbage, watered the fruit trees on C Street, and stopped and visited with Lois to see how she was doing after gall bladder surgery. She is doing well and she gave me some nasal spray for my sinuses and a rusty wire shelf unit. I’m thinking I am going to spray paint that.  The nasal spray seemed to help, so I am going to use it again today. It kept me clear all day and almost all night too. The shelf matches the ones I have indoors, chrome wire shelving. Nice. It is on the patio for now.

In the afternoon I finished my book, caught up on Dancing With the Stars (football was on instead on Monday), and did a small load of laundry and got that hung on the line in the bedroom. Dinner was a frittata, I started feeling better about noon from my burger the night before.

I already had to spray the grow bench for ants. It doesn’t take them long to find something new. I’m thinking the lilacs and the avocado trees can go in large pots when they get big enough. Then I can move them around for a while anyway. Find out where they are happiest. I did not work on the watering for the bench. There are a lot of pots and I may have to go with trays and water from the bottom. Just need to find the trays.

No calls on Ody. But it looks like a lot of people are stopping to look at her, lots of tire tracks. Saturday I will have to pay bills. Figure out how much is left after I pay my insurance and parcel it out accordingly. I have finally reached the point of not having enough money to pay my bills. Thankfully, there aren’t a lot of them and I do have a small paycheck coming in. The insurance is the last big bill of the year, then I have the park dues in January. My taxes are already paid.

Well, I guess it is time I get moving. I need to make my bed, shower and get ready for work. Only one more day after today and I have three days off. I can’t wander too far from Ody while she is up for sale, so no day trips. And Saturday is the ice cream social. I’ll go, and probably have a little bit, but ice cream is a major no no for me. They are making root beer floats too, but that would be way too much sugar for me. I have decided no more Carl’s Jr burgers since I reacted so badly to the one the other night. I keep forgetting we have a Burger King here. This isn’t Island Pond. Lots of choices here, especially now that the snowbird season has started.

Grow bench project

Not much this morning. I made it through work yesterday, actually felt better than I had expected thankfully. It was warm, but didn’t get too hot.

My schedule will be changing after next week, I will be going to four days a week, Wednesday thru Saturday. I was kind of hoping to have Saturday’s off, but it isn’t looking promising. Oh well. This means I will be missing even more fun things, plus the monthly tailgater at the rock club. I guess I won’t bother to join this year.

Since yesterday was pay day, I splurged and went to Carl’s Jr last night for a diablo burger. It tasted good, but I couldn’t finish it. That is a first for me. But I seem to be paying for it this morning. It didn’t want to digest, and when it finally did, I made several trips to the bathroom. Guess I won’t do that again. Maybe next time I will go to Subway instead.

I brought home six 2x4’s, some scorpion powder, screws and potting soil. Today I am going to put together a grow bench with the table legs that I bought last spring. I had forgotten that I had them. This will get all my plants up to table height. And if I have the energy when I am done, I will setup some sort of watering system as well. Or at least see what I need for parts to do it. Might be a weekend project.

Right now I feel like going back to bed, and I might just do that.

Scorpions!

For someone that wasn’t feeling up to 100% yesterday, I got quite a bit done. I got the new shelf up in the shed, shortened two necklaces for a neighbor, two loads of laundry washed, hung, folded and put away, seeds planted (ran out of soil), and chased down some scorpions. Yup, saw my first scorpion yesterday right here on my patio. One got squished, one got sprayed, and another got away. They were under one of my empty plant pots and scurried when I moved it to fill it. I’ll get some actual scorpion stuff when I go to work on Tuesday. For now I am hunting them with the black light after dark. Haven’t found any that way yet.
This is a picture of the one I squished, after spraying it, before squishing. You can’t really see it, it is small and blends in with the brick. From what I hear, they are one of the worst. Ugh!

Check out my toes under the black light….

I have bright orange polish on them. It’s pretty kool. :)

I’m still feeling kind of funky this morning. I did walk, longer than I had planned, and not in a straight line. I’m wondering if I have allergies. My head just feels fuzzy and I have some congestion. Sniffer still works tho, I could smell propane.

I have more seed I want to start, but I’m out of soil. I want to start trumpet vine, two colors, desert willow, and of course my lilac cuttings. So I will also have to get some soil on Tuesday, plus some 2x4’s so I can make a shelf and keep all of this off the ground. That will reduce the chance of scorpions. What I did get started was my tomatoes, some sweet banana peppers, zucchini, mesclun, chives, and nasturtium. I need something bright and blooming.

Today I need to get Ody listed online. Plus I want to get some of the spoon bracelets on eBay. I’m surprised I haven’t had more calls on her. :( Was hoping she would sell right away. Oh well. I would really like to get started on my trailer. I have walked, so the rest of the day will be quiet.

I will be missing the first park wide yard sale. It is on a Friday, and of course, I will be working. Maybe I can get a preview, but I won’t be able to sell anything. This time I actually have tables.

Leslie and Bob finally hit Q yesterday, so the couch should be going away in the next couple of days. Yay. I will spray indoors once that is out. I will probably have to clean the carpet there too. Probably Kali Cat hair and dead ants back there. I will finally have the living room redo done. Although I will need to make a new cover for the ottoman so it matches. Will have to haul out the sewing machine again. This time I will have to cut one of the blankets, and I should probably make the foot rest covers for the second chair at the same time.

Trying a mexican quinoa recipe today. Instead of using a sauce pan tho, I am using the crock pot. I was going to make the chili from my basket, but I was supposed to soak the beans over night and I didn’t do that.

Slow start this morning and the beginnings of a plan

I’m getting a VERY slow start this morning. I have spent the last couple of hours researching stealth camper/cargo trailer conversions. I have started pulling together a plan. :) Since I have six months experience living in Ody with and without water and electricity, I have a feel for what the bare necessities are. Trying to keep the cost down, without skimping too much. I have started my Amazon Stealth Camper wish list. http://amzn.com/w/3K1X1OGAVO11H
The list will most likely get changed on a regular basis. I also started a board on pinterest to remind me of some good ideas that I saw.  https://www.pinterest.com/crnbrryctg/stealth-camper/ It’s a start. Plus I am hoping to find some used cabinets, etc., for storage and counter tops. First things first tho, gotta get Ody sold, then get the trailer and get it insulated.

I’m also not feeling tip top today. My head is a bit cloudy and I am tired. I think I am going to take today “off”, and only do what I feel like doing. I imagine that isn’t going to be a whole lot. Hopefully get some spraying done and maybe some seed started. But I do need to get dressed in case I get some calls on Ody. I showed her on my way home last night. There was a guy there looking her over, so I stopped and opened her up. He didn’t like the bunks. Oh well. The right person will come along.

I haven’t walked this morning. Maybe I will walk tonight, at least a little ways. I didn’t want to get up and have to rush off somewhere, tired of it. Wanted to be lazy, which is fine as long as it doesn’t become a regular thing. I crashed early again last night, was up around 1 for a couple of hours, and this time I did manage to go back to sleep and get a couple more hours.

It was nice and cool last night. I actually turned the fans off because it was almost too cool.

I don’t have much else to write about this morning and my computer is just about out of juice. Maybe once I actually get moving, I might get some energy. Let’s hope.

Nothing much

It is going to be a very long day as I have been up since 2AM. I tried to go back to sleep a couple of times, but failed. I was so tired after working all day I crashed early. At least I’m getting used to standing all day. My hip doesn’t hurt much if I sit when I can, and my feet and legs are doing much better too. I knew it would take a while.

Not much to write about. I worked yesterday, no calls on Ody. One more day of work and then I have three days off. I’m not planning on doing much tomorrow, sleep, maybe plant some seeds, whatever I am in the mood to do. It could be just reading all day. Time will tell. I do need to get Ody listed online in a couple of places.

It is just about time to dig out my winter robe and slippers. The mornings are quite nippy now. It did warm up enough for them to turn on the swamp cooler at work yesterday. Was uncomfortable for a while. We hit the upper 80’s. Supposed to be the same today. It is about 60 right now.

I need to throw a chair in the back of the car. I tried sitting in the back yesterday, but it wasn’t comfortable. I had been sitting in the front, but my lunch kept sliding off my knee. So I decided to try sitting in the back, but the top is too short and I had to keep my neck bent. But it was better for my lunch. So a chair is the next try.

That's about it for this morning. Not much going on.

Mostly chores yesterday

Got in a walk, the rug over to Ody, cleaned part of the bathroom, then moved on to making my chair cushion yesterday I didn’t think there was any sense in vacuuming before I did the pillow. Got that done, it is better, but still not great. But I will just have to live with it until I can afford a real recliner. Will have to start saving my pennies.

The pillow is completely recycled materials. The inner casing is the sheet I got at Sal’s the other day, the fiber fill is from the couch pillows, and the outer casing is from an older blanket I had already cut and used in Ody. I didn’t even have to cut a new blanket. I also got the footrest part of the chair with string pull covers so it won’t matter if the blanket creeps up, the foot rest will still be covered. I think I have enough material to make another set of foot rest covers, but didn’t do it yesterday. Once the couch is gone, I may put the ottoman into play instead of using the recliner part of the chair. I will try it for a couple of days and see how it works out. The couch should be going in the next week or so. Leslie and her hubby are already in New Mexico, so it won’t be long now.

My rug for the living room also came yesterday, so I got that down. Did my vacuuming and dusting, cleaned the kitchen…chores. The rug is going to look good when it gets settled in and the couch is gone.

I finished replacing batteries in my solar lights and modified the two used ones I got from one of the neighbors so they would fit in the holders. Put the extra one in the little cactus garden by the fountain.

I didn’t get a nap yesterday, so I was really tired last night. I think I have a slight cold. But if that is as bad as it gets, I am not going to complain much. It wears me out tho. I have the cough and am stuffed up on a regular basis. Could be some sort of allergy too. Different environment and all. But I am going to be exposed to all sorts of nasty germs this winter. I expect I will get sick at some point. I don’t get sick days.

I had only slept two hours last night when I woke up way overheated. Had to come outside to cool down, then when I went back, I made sure I was directly in front of the fan and managed a few more hours of sleep.

Back to work today. I need to take a check to the post office and mail it to my bank and take the garbage to the dumpster on my way.

I’m hoping this weekend to finally get my garden started. Now that I have Ody out of the way, the cushion done, cleaning done, etc. I’m also hoping to get back to the basket I started before I started working. I have a few more I want to do before the holidays. And the spoon bracelets are still waiting to go on eBay. Always something to do.

No calls on Ody. I have hopes for the weekend. I will get it posted online this weekend. I already have the photos, just need to get it up there. I want her sold. Need the funds and don’t need the responsibility any more. My next paycheck has to cover my car insurance. I will have about $30 left when that is done. At least when I am working, I’m not spending money. I guess I am going to have to set a budget for xmas decorations. I need everything since I had to get rid of everything. Although I already bought the candles for the windows. I need tree lights, ornaments, etc. Starting from scratch. I do have a small bin of stuff that I kept, but it isn’t much.

I have both fans running and will close up the house before I go to work. I am still hoping I am done with the AC. Worse comes to worse, I can fire up the little swamp cooler since the nights are cooling down now. 62 this morning. Almost time for my polar fleece bathrobe and flannel nightgown. I’m working my way back into shirts with sleeves too. I need to go thru my clothes and see what I have since I bought a bunch of stuff thru the summer for fall and winter at Sal’s and the other thrift shop. I’m bored with my summer stuff and am ready to start wearing something different anyway.

The feral cat was out digging something out of the leaves next door late yesterday. I’m hoping it isn’t scorpions. I didn’t get my spraying done yesterday, so will have to make sure I do it this weekend. The leaves are only a few feet from my bedroom. But he/she? was catching something and eating it. We looked at each other, but it didn’t feel threatened this time and went back to what it was doing. It was on the other side of the chain link fence.

Raffle prize

Made it through another day of work. No calls on Ody. The rug for the kitchen came yesterday, so I need to get that put in today. Will take a little scooter ride later and do that.

I had a normal night for me again last night. Slept a few hours, then was up a few hours. That of course made me get up late and I am getting a late start today. I did walk already, so now I need to work on the BSC website and clean house. Then I will figure what else I will get done. I would like to get the chair pillow done today if I can.

Nice and cool this morning. It was 61 when I got up. I had the windows open and fans going as it was quite nice when I got home from work. No AC at all yesterday. I didn’t bother to turn it on before I went to work, just closed the place up. I’m hoping to keep the AC off now, but we will see how it goes.

I got my raffle prize yesterday. Theresa dropped it off at work, so I didn’t get to disassemble it until I got home. Here are the pics. Some nice stuff!

Thankfully, no candy. Although I have to admit I was a little disappointed there was no candy. :) I think I am going to put the little pumpkin out on the steps with the rest of them. The two dishes will go on the coffee table. I’m going to try the chili this weekend, and the muffin packs will go in the cupboard.

Work was good. Nice having Jan back. It is getting a little busier now which makes the day go faster. My hip hasn’t been hurting as long as I sit down between customers or rushes. It is when I stand there and shift around that my hip hurts.

I don’t have much else to write about this morning and I am behind schedule and have a website to work on, so I probably should go do that. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.

A day of rest - sort of...

Yesterday was kind of a strange day. I got my walk in, showered and dressed and down to coffee by a little after 7 AM. Once we were done socializing, I went off to do errands. I hit the Roadrunner and picked up some fruit and veggies and some pork chops for dinner. Went to the dollar store for my other stuff, and finally Salvation Army. I got a shirt and a sheet. The sheet was only 75 cents - as is. Had a couple little holes in it, but I can work around that.
Came back and put stuff away, got two loads of laundry washed and out on the line, then took a little nap. Either I was really, really tired, or I am fighting something, because I slept off and on the rest of the day. With a little reading in between. I was going to make my chair pillow, but I just didn’t have the energy. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow.

Got a call in the afternoon from someone that was keeping an eye on the place where Ody is parked. I figured I was going to have to move her. So I called the guy back, introduced myself, and he is OK with it. So I am good, with permission and everything. No calls on her yesterday. I did pick up two more for sale signs at Sal’s for a quarter and will put them in the side windows too. I will try to squeeze that in on my way to work this morning.

Did a little web work last night, and have more to do tomorrow morning. They apparently are looking for someone to maintain their website. Not sure why, I have been doing it since 2003. I have mixed feelings about that. It brings me a few bucks, but I don’t enjoy doing it and dread October every year because of these updates. It isn’t one of my favorite things to do, costs me money, and is something Jake started. They are lucky that I took it over from him a long time ago. I lost the chamber site and another snowmobile site a while back, and I am fine with that. So I guess it is the natural progression of things. It isn’t like I charge them a lot of money, but I guess they are looking for a freebie.

On a positive note, I got a call yesterday. I won the drawing of the Halloween basket that I bought a couple of tickets for back when I took my rock painting class. Theresa is supposed to drop it off to me sometime today. Fun! I don’t even remember what is in it, but it will be fun finding out.

I got a late dinner last night. I had pork chops, mustard greens and gray squash. It was late because of my napping and the web work. I also threw together a graphic for the ice cream social on Halloween here at the park. I don’t mind doing that if it isn’t expected of me. Or demanded. It was a quickie and fun. I already had the big computer fired up, so I just did it. I made my lunch for today while I was fixing dinner last night.

So many things I wanted to do yesterday, but just didn’t have it in me. I still need to finish the shelving in the shed, have lots of things I could make, the chair pillow, planting seeds, and more. I guess it is ok to have a day like that sometimes. This weekend will be mine. I won’t  have to work on Ody all weekend. The last two weekends were used up with that. So I will have three days in a row where I can get some of this stuff done. I need to clean house tomorrow too. Just didn’t have the energy for it yesterday and it needs it.

Now that the rain has stopped, I need to spray around the house again. It only takes a few minutes, but I want to do inside again too. That will take a little longer because I will have to move some furniture.

The couch should be going in the next week or so. I will be happy to have that gone finally and I will be able to finish my living room redo. That will make it easier to open and close the blinds every day. I need to start doing that again. I think I am getting used to the chair, that is where I did all my sleeping yesterday.

Gonna wear my new shirt today. It is a black faux suede with snap front. Will make a nice lightweight jacket for the cool morning. Jan is back this week, so that will be interesting hearing about her trip. Plus, I have more in common with her than the boys.

Finally done

Well, she is finally done and out on display on Moon Mountain Road. I have already shown her once, but I don’t they are her new owners. They are set on “buying” her in Nevada and I don’t have the time, energy, money (for gas) to drive up there so they can save a few bucks on registration. Not my problem. And they aren’t taking her up without me. There will be others, now that she is out where people can see her. If she hasn’t sold by next week, I may take her to work for a day or two. Lots of people come and go there.

I am still very stiff and sore. Putting down the carpet went pretty fast and wasn’t difficult other than the fact that I don’t bend and move the way I used to and it was uncomfortable. Then it was a quick vacuum, jump start the generator (not sure what drained the battery, but I unplugged the TV), some armor all in the front, and I was done. I am so very happy to have that done. I’m hoping she will have a new owner by the end of the week. There is a restaurant just up the street, so it gets quite a bit of traffic, and it is an easy place to pull over and look at it.

Breakfast was good. We were back by 9 AM. I didn’t do much else yesterday other than read a book. It sprinkled off and on. I watched a couple of movies on Hulu, and went to bed.

This morning I need to walk, yesterday was difficult because of the humidity and being so stiff and sore. I got an early enough start that I didn’t have to socialize. This morning is Monday morning coffee at the clubhouse at 7, so I need to be walked, showered and dressed by then. I have to walk over to Ody and reposition the for sale sign, so I may walk outside the park this morning since I have to leave it anyway. I have a choice of around the block in two directions or the wash. I am thinking the wash. After coffee, I want to go to the Roadrunner which just reopened on Friday and get some fruit and stuff for lunches, DG for my other stuff and Sal’s for whatever. Then I have laundry and if I found something to make my pillow with, will make that after the material is washed and dried. It’s going to be a busy morning, but hopefully a quiet afternoon.

When I went to Herb’s for parts on Saturday I also got the 1x8 I need to make the second shelf in the shed. I might do that later, or plant some seeds or something. We’ll see how much energy I have left when I get everything else done, and how warm it is by then. It was in the low 90’s yesterday, but somewhat humid. Was nice if you weren’t moving around a lot.

Almost done

Good thing I started with the water tank yesterday, it took most of the day and I did have to make a trip to the hardware store. The old tank went back in. Two reasons, it wasn’t leaking, and the new tank didn’t have the sensors in it.  I got the thing out, filled it with water and tested it out, took forever to get it back in and everything hooked up. I was working on my knees and in a tiny, cramped space. I had to get some crimp connectors and sealant before I could close it back up. I also got the table brace installed and the latch for the seat back. The table brace was a little easier than I thought it was going to be, but still not “easy”. Today is carpet and a wipe down, and it will be ready to go. I will need to vacuum the front again, somehow it has gotten dirty, plus I need to clean the dash, doors, etc. This whole thing has taken a lot longer than expected, cost more and involve more labor than I had wanted to put into her. I hope it helps and she sells fast. I also still need to finish up the key rack. I put the hooks on it the other day, and just need to print out something appropriate to put in the picture frame. Then I can hang it over the door.

I wrapped up my work around 3, and read the rest of the day. I am stiff and sore this morning from the contortions working on the tank. I’m guessing the water came from the filler tube. The seal was shot on that, possibly a couple of the other connections had a leak or two too. What seals I could replace, I did. There were some hoses that I couldn’t get off, so I just made sure the clamps were really tight.

I will keep the new tank for my new camper. I will need a fresh water tank anyway, and I won’t need sensors.

Tomorrow I want to go to the market, DG and Sal’s. I would like to get that chair situated at some point. Something somewhat comfortable. Maybe even something I can live with indefinitely. I will just keep trying. But the big pillow to fit the back is the next try and I would like to do that tomorrow if I can, but need material for the inner sleeve.

I will take pictures of Ody today when I am finished. I’m planning on using my little nikon pocket camera as it does a better wide angle than my others.

Another snowmobile club website update last night, but this was an easy one. Took longer to boot up the machine than to make the changes.

I did walk yesterday. Planning on walking this morning too. Need to walk a little earlier, too many people to stop and talk to. I have to keep taking my earbuds out. But it doesn’t get light until about 6:30 now. At least it is fairly comfortable temperature wise in the mornings now. I didn’t use the AC yesterday, but was sorely tempted last night. It just wouldn’t cool down inside even with both fans going. Haven’t looked at the forecast for today yet.

Breakfast out at 8, so I need to be walked, showered and dressed by then. After that, I will finish up Ody. Feels a lot less humid this morning. Yesterday was very humid and sprinkled off and on. I worked up a good sweat and my scalp is all itchy even tho I washed my hair last night. I have rubbed some witch hazel on it for now, but am hoping another rinse after I walk this morning will help.

I also dealt with Target and the whole tray debacle. I'm getting a credit for the missing tray, and will get full credit on the second order that went back. Instead of refunding my money, they are sending me egift cards. I guess I will use those for some xmas shopping. But am happy to finally have a red tray and that whole thing straightened out.

IP got its first snow of the season yesterday.

Time to get to work

I have done my walk and picked up Ody on the way back. This morning I am going to change out the fresh water tank. I’m doing that first because it is probably the hardest, and the one I will most likely need parts for. If so, I need the hardware store to be open. From there I will do the table bracket, and last but not least the carpet in the bunk area. Then it will be a quick wipe down inside and staging. The rug is supposed to be here on Tuesday, so I will just use my cheapies for now. I am hoping she will go out beside the road tomorrow.

We had some rain last night, finally. It threatened for two days. I haven’t checked my gauge yet.

I had my usual night last night, fell asleep around 8:30 and woke up around midnight. Was up for a couple of hours and then another hour or two of sleep which put me behind and there were a lot of people already out, which slows me down because I have to be social.

I’m fine. Exhausted after working all day. Feeling stressed with the lost time, and it will only get worse as my days increase. I guess I will eventually adjust to it. It used to be my way of life. I really liked not working, but I can’t afford not to. Hoping that will change at some point. Haven’t made anything or done anything lately. I have either been working or working on Ody.

I’m going to try one more thing with my chair. I am going to try making a custom pillow for the back, see if that helps. The purchased ones don’t cut it, and I have two ratty old pillows off the couch that I can take apart and remake into one larger one. Gotta get the fill just right and the size too. The one I am using right now is too thick and too narrow.

I realized this morning that I hadn’t walked since last Sunday. Monday I had stuff to do, Tuesday I worked, Wednesday was the shopping trip and I worked both Thursday and Friday. It wasn’t too bad this morning, but I didn’t do the last street and a half because I grabbed Ody on my way back thru.

Thinking I might take the scooter to work one day next week, for the fun of it. I went to the post office yesterday and what did I find, a red tray from Target. Just one. Thought it was supposed to be a two pack. Will have to follow up on that. I wonder if I will see the halloween ornaments. Almost too late for them now. I’m going to go ahead and make the acorn ones for Thanksgiving. When I find the time. That will just be a little wire and a little glue, nothing heavy duty.

Supposedly the Roadrunner opened on Friday so I shouldn’t have to leave town to get produce now. It won’t be as good as Smart and Final, but should be as good as Walmart. I was really surprised and unimpressed by their produce last week.

Well, time to get to work. I have nothing else planned and it should stay below 90 today. It is very humid tho. Will have to wait until tomorrow for laundry since I don't have  a dryer. Monday I hope to get back to my routine of local stores and Salvation Army. I need to see if I have enough material to make my custom pillow or if I have to pick up a sheet at Sal’s, then I will make a cover for it. I have some sewing to do since my blankets arrived this week.

Fire and rescue

Tim Wellinger
Island Pond, VT Fall 2015

Not much this morning. Work absorbed the whole day and of course I was exhausted when I got home. We did have a little incident at the end of the day, our barn guy got his hand in the saw and we had to call fire and rescue. He didn’t loose any fingers, but I guess it was a pretty nasty cut. I didn’t see it, someone had to watch the store. I haven’t heard any more, and I hope he is going to be ok. They did transport him.

It was another hot and humid day, quite uncomfortable. The only saving grace was that it was overcast most of the day. Today is supposed to be pretty much the same. Hopefully this is the last of it tho. Still quite humid, which makes it that much harder to deal with. It was busy off and on, but we had some time where it was pretty boring too. I hate when it isn’t busy, the time just drags.

I picked up another jug of Home Defense and will spray again this weekend, both indoors and out. I also finally got a bottle of rooting hormone. I will use that on my lilac cuttings when I am ready to plant them. Got some Jobe’s fertilizer sticks for the geraniums and my avocado too.

That is about it for excitement here. The job takes away from my creative time. I haven’t done much since I started working, and what the job doesn’t use, Ody has been using. I will be glad when she is done and sold. Then I can start a new project and maybe finish up the basket I started weeks ago and play with some glass. I did find a rug online yesterday for the kitchen area. Just like the one that was in there, but in blue. Got that ordered, but it won’t be here by the time I am ready to put her out for sale. It will have to go in after. In the meantime, I will just use the two cheapies I have in my kitchen and swap them out when the new rug gets here.

My third order of the trays and ornaments from Target has been cancelled. :( I guess I won’t be getting my red trays after all. I should have grabbed the one I saw at Walmart the other day. That one was metal. Oh well, can’t say I didn’t try.

Happy Anniversary Mike and Judy

Happy anniversary to Mike and Judy. Not sure how many years, but it brings back memories of Jake and I meeting them in Portland and spending time with them on their honeymoon. Good memories.

Grocery shopping yesterday, I now have food for lunches. And back to work today. Hot and humid again, won't be pleasant at work.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Still hot here.

It was hot and sticky at work yesterday and quite unpleasant. The afternoon dragged. I did get my very first paycheck tho. It was a little more than expected, but still quite small, I'm only working three days a week for minimum wage.

Today is shopping day. We are going to Parker, and I assume Walmart. I have a whole list of things I need. I still need a couple more things for Ody, and I want to see if I can get some sort of big pillow for the chair, and a host of other things including food. I would also like to see if they have my geraniums again, mine aren't looking too healthy. I need something with some color.

Time to jump in the shower. My ride is always early and I need to be ready.

A little down time

I did make it to coffee, a little late, but I got there. I also got the website fixed before I went and got my shower. I had the page on my computer, just not sure how the wrong one got uploaded. Anyway, got the final approval on both sites, so this weekend I will be able to concentrate on Ody instead of splitting my time. And I should be able to get a much earlier start than I did this weekend.

I decided to get some down time before going back to work today, so I made up the bunks, and cleaned up my trash and moved Ody back to the kool cover for the rest of the week. Weather permitting, I will get her done this weekend and out for sale. The sooner the better. Here are a few Ody pics for you. There will be more when I get her done.

So I got to spend some time in one of the chairs yesterday. I really don’t think they are going to work out. Good thing they weren’t expensive as far as chairs go. I will look for a comfortable recliner when Ody sells, keep one of the new chairs, and sell the second one. I tried using the little ottoman instead of reclining while watching TV last night because the back goes too far back when the foot is up, but the angle of the seat when the foot is down, tips too far down so it is uncomfortable. I may try the larger ottoman tomorrow, see if that is any better. I won’t be able to work or read comfortably without adding pillows to the back. I will write my own review on the website. I’m not happy with them. I’m going to pick up a couple of cheap pillows at the dollar store and see if that helps.

Got a couple of loads of laundry done, cleaned up the patio and read the rest of the day. I didn’t bother to go out, I managed to make my lunch for today without having to go buy stuff. It is a tuna wrap today and I had the other half for dinner last night.

My hands are feeling better, but my thumbs are still sore. Another day or two and they should be fine. My arms are sore too.

I get my first paycheck today. It won’t be much, but it is better than nothing. I couldn’t have waited any longer, I actually need the check, and it isn’t going to be enough to cover my bills this month. I will have to stretch it out. Since I will be getting two paychecks a month, I am going to try to put one of them aside to cover next summer’s expenses. Getting Ody sold will make a huge difference, but that is only temporary. Once that is gone, I have nothing to fall back on. Going to have to make that last as long as possible.

Tomorrow I am riding to Parker with Vicki for groceries. It will be nice to have something in the fridge again. Will have to plan ahead for lunches.

Progress on Ody and more website woes

Got another late start on Ody yesterday. Almost 11. By then, again, it was hot and I didn’t feel like working. But I did. I got the yellowed cover masked off and painted, reinstalled the door stop, had to stop and find a replacement screw because the head was stripped in one. Then I moved indoors. I ended up firing up the generator and turning on the AC inside.

I installed the new light fixture in the bunk, a toilet paper holder, the TV, cleaned up the bathroom and the ceiling fan in there and a couple other little things. I also filled screw holes and rigged one of the drawers that had lost it’s rail so that it sits straight instead of crooked. Little things. The outside is pretty much done. I still have some big things to do like install the carpet, the dinette hanger and the water tank. I will work on it some today, but not all day. I need some time off before I go back to work. I will put her back under cover until next weekend. Once I get all that done and cleaned up, she will go out and sit in a neighbors driveway with a for sale sign on her. I might see if there is some place at work where I can park her, even if it is just during the day.

Today I will probably make up the bunks, clean that section, put away the pots and pans and clean up my garbage. I think that is about all I have the energy for. Maybe put down the carpet. I am skipping my walk this morning because Monday morning coffee is at 7 AM, and I need to shower before I go.

I need to go to the market and get something for lunch tomorrow. I finished up the last of my cheese yesterday and that is an integral part of my lunch. I won’t get much since we are going to Parker on Wednesday and I can get stuff there for less and better quality.

Both websites have been giving me trouble. I finally got the more difficult one under control and the client is happy, but the easier one hasn’t been easy, and all the changes I made yesterday have disappeared. I will have to do that over this morning. Sigh…both of them have been nothing but a pain in the ass this time around. I think I might have too much going on and that is causing stress, which is causing mistakes.

I almost fell (again) on my steps this morning. Nothing but concrete and brick, and that would hurt. Those steps have tripped me more than once. They make me very nervous. Haven't come up with a solution yet.

Well, I need to get in the shower, and figure out what went wrong with the website. I doubt I will get both done before coffee, but will give it a try.

Not the best of days

What a day yesterday. Not a fun one. I was already cranky, and it didn't improve.

I spent most of the morning on the two websites. The second one, the one that was supposed to be easy…wasn’t. I still need to go back and do some more work. But that got me started on Ody around 1, much later than I had wanted to get started, and it was already hot. I decided to start with the outside. I installed the new handle, spray painted the yellowed rear view mirrors, and got started on the new window seals. That was not a fun job, and I don’t ever want to do that again. If I find myself in that situation again, I will pay someone to do it for me. I finally got the last window seal in place in the dark, around 7 PM. Ugh! My fingers hurt, my hands are stiff, and I stood on a ladder the whole time. The narrow ones went in fairly easy, but the wider ones were horrible, especially on the corners. I wasted a whole hour or more on just one corner and each window had four. Never again. I’m sure there is a handy dandy tool to zip those right into place, but I didn’t have one. I do have to say, it looks much nicer, but by the time I finished last night, it was too dark to take pictures.

This morning I will be starting out masking off the plastic vent for the stove and getting a coat of white paint on that. It has really yellowed. I also want to try and fix the two compartment seals that don’t want to stay in place. I don’t know if I can soften up some of the old seals and reuse them or not, but will give it a try. Thinking maybe some really hot water might do the trick. Hopefully all that won’t take too long so I can get started on the stuff I need to do inside. I have a couple of big projects indoors, the table brace and the water tank. The rest of it is, or should be, relatively easy. One of the last things I will do is put down the carpet in the bunk area. I even remembered to buy the edging for the doorways. Hoping to have enough carpet leftover to make a rug for the kitchen area. If not, I will have to go buy one at Family Dollar as the linoleum isn't very nice looking.

I hadn’t wanted to spend my whole weekend working on the rig, but it is looking like it is going to run into tomorrow. We’ll see how much I manage to get done today. I do need some down time before I go back to work on Tuesday.

My hands are very stiff this morning and my thumbs are sore to the touch. The right one worse than the left one. Even my walk yesterday was difficult. Just not a fun day all around.

I did get the pillow made for the new chair in the living room and I ordered the blankets to cover them. I also trimmed down my back wedge pillow to fit the chair better too. So I did get a couple of indoor things done. Oh, I also cleaned my ceiling fans, they really needed it. I got a brush specifically for that purpose. Worked pretty well. I found a rug to fit the living room that matches the other two I pulled out of Ody. They are the same as I had in the kitchen on Alder Street. It is almost 8ft square and will cover the majority of the living room floor. I think it will look nice. It was under $100. The blankets I ordered are the gray plaid(ish) polar fleece, same color and pattern I had in Ody on the bed. Also matches the blanket that is now under the new quilt. Those will be my winter covers and I will probably go back to the red in the spring. And what red that will be left in the room will go with the red and gray blankets. I think I am going to paint my rolling storage ottoman that you got for me. It is brown, but I think I want it to be black. I have been thinking about that project for a while now. Or maybe a black stain….

Third time is the charm. I am finally getting my red trays. Got them ordered the other day, and my address now has my PO Box in two places, it shouldn’t be returned this time. If I end up with the second order somehow, I will find another use for them.

I still haven’t decided about the chairs. I don’t think they are going to work out in the long run, but for now, I am stuck with them. They aren’t cushy, which is what I need at the end of the day. But I will tweak the pillows, etc., and will adjust to them. I will probably eventually replace one and keep one. Assuming I can find a recliner I can live with. Wish I still had my little green one. That thing was awesome. There just wasn’t room for it in Ody.

Good dinner, but too expensive

I don’t have much to write about this morning.
Went to the post office at lunch, my book about gardening in the desert arrived. According to the book, I am just about on schedule for fall planting and could actually wait another week or so. But I hope to get started this weekend. I brought home some mesclun mix, chive, and nasturtium seed the other day. I need something that blooms!

It is already hot and stuffy this morning. I have to work on a couple of websites before I can start on Ody. I am tired and a bit cranky too. I do hope my mood improves and I don’t have to waste my whole morning on websites.

Supposed to go to dinner at 4 with the “widow’s club”, the group of widows here in the park. Vicki and I went to Times Three last night for their fish dinner, so I don’t know if I will go today or not. We’ll see how the day plays out. I have a lot on my plate for this weekend. Vicki isn’t interested in going today.

I think that I am going to order some polar fleece blankets for the living room furniture winter covers. The gray with red plaid. Plus the large rug for the living room as well. The same pattern as the ones I already have that I removed from Ody. I have to make a custom pillow for the recliner, a regular pillow is too big. But I think the orange microfiber that I cut off the body pillow will be just about right. I might get out of that with a minimum of sewing.

Work was long and hot yesterday and my hip was really bothering me. I do hope that goes away. I did my mile this morning, and just from missing two days, I felt it. Although it could be the warm weather making me feel like I was really having to work this morning.

Vicki and I went to Times Three for dinner last night. I liked their fried fish, but it was an expensive dinner and we waited way too long. I didn't figure out until this morning that the waitress short changed me by ten bucks. So $12 for dinner, $5 for tip, and $10 short on my change. Almost $30 for a fish fry. An expensive lesson learned, count your change.

New chairs

Got my chairs. They were here when I came home at lunch to take in my blanket. I stacked them to deal with after work.

Work was OK. I’m getting into the rhythm of things. It was alternately slow and busy. Jan is off on Thursdays, so it is extra boring for me. Robert isn’t much of a talker, and when he does, it is guy things so I feel kind of out of place for most of the day. Next week she will be gone all week.

It did get warm. I think we hit 94 degrees. But my AC was off, and I didn’t turn it on when I got home. I think this is either day five or six with the AC off. That will most likely change tomorrow tho. It took quite a while for it to cool down last night and I had trouble sleeping because of it.

The chairs were unboxed, the old one moved out and the two new ones moved in and assembled. They are quite small, and I don’t know if I like them or not. They look good. Nice size and all, but I don’t know if they are going to be comfortable enough. Maybe once they get broke in and I get them outfitted with pillows, etc. They do lie flat which is a plus, but there is no upright sitting when the foot rest is up. Thus the pillows. They were’t that expensive, so they will be good for a year or two. I just need to adapt. Maybe swap one of them out some time in the future for something a little more comfortable.

I know I said I was done with pumpkins, but I brought home a dryer vent yesterday. I want to see how many I can get out of one vent. Just one more project. :)

The old chair is already spoken for and will go this morning. I did push the couch over temporarily to make room for the second chair. I can live with that for a couple of weeks unless I can find a place to store it and someone to help me move it. I will be happy when it is gone tho so I can finish my room makeover.

I am hoping to get Ody finished up and out for sale this weekend. I am also hoping it takes less than the three days that I have. Would be nice if I could do it in one, but that probably isn’t possible. Lots of little things to deal with, plus one big thing - the water tank. It will be nice to get that large box off the patio.

I still can’t log into my Target account so I can’t check on the status of my order, or place a new order. I wanted to change my address and then try again. I guess I am going to have to contact them. Might try on the other computer first tho. I could be blocked or something on this one. You never know.

My back hurts this morning. Not sure if it is from standing, chair wrestling, or the new chair. Could be a combination of all three. It does hurt when I stand at work, but seems to go away when I come home. Sigh…I’m hoping it will eventually work itself out.

Web page and things to do

I got quite a bit done yesterday in spite of spending the whole morning on that web page. Jake wrote the script for that, and I have managed to keep it working all this time, but this one was a real challenge. Lots of changes. Plus, I’m working with a new person this year. I finally wrapped that up around noon. I still have a few tweaks that will need to be done, but they will be a lot less time consuming.

I got two loads of laundry washed and hung out to dry, changed all the batteries in my solar lights, and have to change the ones in my dragonfly lights this weekend. I had changed them last year and didn’t realize they needed to be changed again. I have one regular solar light that has stopped working all together, and will need to replace it, but it is a pair, so I will have to replace two of them.

I finally got my billing done in Quickbooks for the month of October and just got the invoices sent out this morning. And at the end of the day, I took the scooter and got rid of my garbage and my cans. My can baskets have broken down in the sun and they need to be replaced as well.

It was another nice day yesterday and we have gone three days without the AC, but I think I will have to turn it back on for the next week or so. But by having it off for three days, I have saved quite a bit in electricity. I think we might be at the stage where it is on during the day and off at night.

I didn’t get everything I wanted to do done, but did OK. There are still a couple of projects sitting on the table waiting to be done.

My chairs are scheduled to arrive today while I am at work, so I will have to deal with that when I get home. I will remove the old chair and put one of the new ones in it’s place, and I think if I push the couch over, there will be room for the second chair temporarily, until the couch can be removed. Leslie should be here in a couple of weeks, I guess I can wait that long to finish my redesign. I will get rid of the old chair this weekend. Post it on FB and it shouldn’t hang around too long. I don’t really have anywhere else I can put the extra chair while I wait, so it will be a little crowded in the living room.

I slept pretty well last night. It was quite cool, so that helped. The cooler, the better for sleeping. Just about time to get out my fleece blanket. I really should have washed it yesterday so I could use it last night, but I didn’t. It is going to be pretty dusty, so it will need to be washed first. I just put it in the washer, I will hang it outside (will smell better) and will come home at lunch and bring it in. I won’t even have to bring my lunch with me today. Tomorrow I will hit the post office at lunch time in case there are any packages. I have already made my lunch for today and tomorrow. Was just as easy making two as it was one.

Temporary cool down

What a pleasant day yesterday. I have gone almost 36 hours with the AC turned off. Today will be the last of that, it is supposed to get back into the upper 90’s by the end of the week. Today's high is supposed to be 83. Currently it is 65 and almost feels cold.

I just tracked my halloween ornaments I ordered from Target, and sure enough, the post office refused them as they will with the second set of trays. I’m thinking I might just spray paint the one I have, my tray table that I painted black a couple of years ago. It is no longer being used in the bedroom. Although I like the black paint. Gonna have to think about that. It isn’t like I can’t spray it black again. As for the ornaments, I found some styrofoam acorns at DG yesterday, I will use those instead.

I spent the morning after coffee, vacuuming, dusting, and rearranging. My chairs are supposed to be here tomorrow, so I moved the little end tables into the bedroom which freed up the tray table. The stand for that is in the closet and the tray part is on the coffee table. Tried to find someone to help me move the couch out, but was unsuccessful there. I will just have to live with it for a while longer. The living room will be cramped with two chairs and a couch. I will just have to make sure one of them is useable. I also moved the little shelf out of the sliding door and against the wall and got the canvas bins out that I had bought just for this purpose. They are a perfect fit except for the black ones which are a little deeper, but it is up against the wall and the black ones are on the bottom, so it works out ok. I even had one of each color left over, one of which I used for my current basket project.

I puttered around in the house until almost noon, had some lunch and a quick nap, then went to the post office and the market and DG. I picked up a few things that I could use for lunch and a few things at DG that I was out of. I also got my battery operated candles for the front windows for December and the foam acorns. Once I got back and got the stuff put away, I took some stuff over to Ody, and removed the rugs I had in there. I will have to find a rug for the kitchen area because the floor is not very good. Discolored from wherever the leak came from. I decided to keep my black rugs. One went into the bedroom, the other is in the living room. The one in the living room isn’t big enough, but the design and maker are on the back, so maybe I can find a larger one later. These rugs don’t have that rubber backing, so it won’t come off and stick to the carpet.

Today I work. Tomorrow I have to work on one of the snowmobile websites. It is that time of year. I’m planning on doing some work on Ody over the weekend. Still waiting for the window seals and water tank. But there are other things I can do in the meantime.

My lilac cuttings arrived from Iola. They dropped all their leaves, but it is that time of year. I’m thinking I am going to put them in the fridge or freezer for a couple of weeks, then take them out and see if they will root. I need to simulate winter for them. Also just about time to start my seeds. Maybe another weekend project. I have been saving all my eggshells, and I will use them in the pots.

Another bad night.

Getting a late start this morning. Got my walk in and managed to make it to the first Monday morning coffee at the clubhouse at 7 this morning. I was up half the night again, but did manage to get back to sleep this time. I was exhausted from yesterday and the lack of sleep the night before. I was shooting for 8:30 (actually 8:15 because Vicki is always early), and managed to get out of the shower around 8, and she was already waiting in the driveway. She had forgotten she said 8:30 and was ready to go at 8. I still needed to get dressed and get ready, but managed to do that in about ten minutes and off we went to Palm Springs International Airport. The scenery is a bit different, more green and surrounded by mountains. I did get some photos, but haven’t gotten them off the camera yet. It took about two and a half hours to get there, Jessie’s plane was late, so we managed to make it back here about 3:30, and they still had to drive to Laughlin once Vicki got her stuff loaded up. It wasn’t a good day for my diet, it was junk food all the way, no stopping to eat anywhere. I had an early dinner to try and offset some of the crackers I had during the ride. I did a little shopping at the gift shop and got myself a Palm Springs sweatshirt.

This is a fountain that is at the airport. The thing is absolutely huge! The photo doesn't do it justice.

It has been sprinkly off and on so far this morning. Bits of clouds, bits of sun…

Today I need to get my shower, vacuum and dust, go get some food so I can make lunch today and tomorrow. I may spend a little while with Ody, but we’ll see. I just got some work from one of the snowmobile club sites and will need to do that while I have the time. I also want to hit Sal’s for the fun of it., and the post office.

One of my sets of trays has been refunded. The one I ordered on eBay. I probably won’t see the second set either. I guess I can live without them.

New chairs

I tried ordering my trays directly from Target this time instead of eBay, and they did the same thing. They wouldn’t allow me to put a PO Box in the address or name line, yet they sent it smart post. Where do they think anything sent smartpost ends up? I will be lucky if I get them by christmas, if at all. It is very frustrating and I guess I won’t be able to buy from Target any more. What really sucks is the both orders are paid for, I didn’t charge them.

Spent some time online looking at chairs again. I ended up ordering two recliners from Wayfair. They got a lot of good reviews and were less than $200 each, plus free shipping. I don’t expect them to last forever, but am hoping to get a few years out of them. I wanted the darker gray, but they weren’t available, so I went with the lighter gray. I had found some wine red ones that I liked, but I could’t find more than one picture and no reviews. So I went with the ones that people seem to like. These look a lot like the green chairs I had in VT, but are supposed to be smaller.

After that, I spent some time in the shed. Put up another shelf. Didn’t even have to cut the board, the shed took the whole 8 feet. Then I reconfigured the wire shelves I put up the other day. The shed is far from done, but I am making progress. At least I can walk without having to move stuff, and the work benches are useable now too.

I also did the turntable in the spice cupboard, but it still rubs, so it has to be the cupboard itself, or a bad spinner.

Ody is done on the outside other than replacing the window seals. I picked her up about mid day. She looks so pretty!

Look at that shine! That took a lot of elbow grease and wet/dry sandpaper and a polish. I imagine this is the first time in years that she has shined like that. He even put a new lock on her door.

I got out my halloween stuff yesterday. I had to make a hanger for the wall quilt. I have some halloween ornaments coming from Target (maybe), for the horseshoe tree. But this is what I have done so far.

Unfortunately, all that stuff on the front steps will have to be moved a couple of times to move chairs in and out and again when the couch comes out. I may bring the couch out when the chairs get here and store it on the patio for the couple of weeks until Leslie gets here and picks it up. The old chair will be given away.

Today is the ride to Palm Springs. I didn’t walk this morning because I had a hell of a night. I slept for two hours and then was up for four. I finally got a couple more hours, but got up about the time I should be walking. So I am going to try to walk later after we get back. Knowing me, I will probably blow it off. But my intentions are good. It is only supposed to be around 90 today, so maybe by this evening, it will be decent walking. Part of my problem was an itchy scalp, which happens when I sweat a lot. I should have rinsed my hair when I took my quickie shower last night. I will have to wash it this morning - twice. I may go back to washing it every other day, I tend to try to add another day, and thinking back, I don’t think I have washed it since Tuesday. I have rinsed it a couple of times, but no shampoo.

Chance of rain tomorrow. Monday morning coffee is back at the club house starting tomorrow. They are having it early, 7 AM instead of 8. I should be done walking by then. Still planning on doing some grocery shopping tomorrow, where will depend on the weather. You don’t want to be out and about when it rains here. Now that there are more people in town, the produce might be a little better. One can only hope. Maybe I will get just enough for a couple of days and go again on Wednesday. The fridge life of anything you buy in town is disgustingly short.

Gonna be an interesting drive today, it is quite windy.

Well, time to go wash my hair and get ready. Vicki wants to leave around 8:30, and she is always early. Maybe I will go to the market this afternoon after we get back instead of tomorrow. We’ll see how I feel when we get back.
