Our new home

I just realized that I hadn’t written yet today and so much has happened since yesterday!

Today makes day four without the generator. Yesterday I disconnected the two 20 watt panels and charged the yeti thru the house system. Plenty of juice when we have full sun. So this morning I put away one of the 20 watt panels, and have the other one in the screen house charging up my phone.

I met Carolyn yesterday and we went and looked at several more places. One an empty lot and some park models in communities. I decided to make an offer on one, and they countered, and we settled on an amount. The place initially listed at 60K and I got it for a lot less than that. I am having the inspection done on Friday, but I don’t think it needs anything. It is partially furnished and move in ready. I have to say, now that I have made the decision, I can’t wait.

There is a nice little shed for storage and enough space for a work area, a concrete patio with mexican brickwork, all appliances including a washing machine and a clothes line. I don’t remember much about the furniture, but am going back over this afternoon for photos and measurements. The place needs a good cleaning, but it is sitting dirt, nothing major. It has been well maintained.

I’m thinking about having the patio screened in, mainly for privacy, but it would also give Kali Cat more room to run around. I think she is going to be a happy kitty. She doesn’t have much space to move around in, and is getting her exercise jumping up on the bed and down and up on the dinette bench and down.

Now I am looking for a car. An SUV type vehicle. I really don’t want to spend more than I get for the tracker, but I might just to get a later model and keep it longer. I want something trustworthy, good on gas, and will handle the back roads and highways without a fuss and a death grip on the steering wheel.

Tossed around the idea of getting rid of the queen bed and getting a twin like I had in IP, but I think I will keep it. I need to buy bedding, I don’t have any queen size anything any more. Sold all of that before I started this adventure. Memory foam isn’t cheap. A two inch topper will cost more than a set of sheets AND a mattress cover. I found some on Amazon, but will look at Walmart before I order them. I have started a housewarming wish list for things I will need to get. I have put the bedding on that list along with a convection toaster oven, a new ice maker and some other stuff. The list can be found here.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/B764I6BA2J0Q/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? I will be adding and removing things as I get them or need them.

I think when I go to town this afternoon, I will see if that southwestern painting is still at Salvation Army. Now that I have a wall to hang it on….need a can of black spray paint too for the frame, and the candle holder I got last week. Going to stop and see if that quilt is still there too.

There is a sickly looking grapefruit tree on the lot. I guess there used to be an orange tree too, but without water, it didn’t survive.

Well, off to town!
