We got some rain...real rain

Yesterday ended up being a lazy day. I didn’t make the bed or even get showered and dressed. I had things to do, but nothing that couldn’t wait a day. It was cloudy and dreary and hot. We did get some rain for about 20 minutes, real rain. There were still puddles when I walked this morning. The sky is clearer this morning and the humidity is supposed to drop for a day or two. I haven’t run the extra fan in the living room for a couple of days. I don’t like it, but the electric bill is too high already. I will eventually get used to it. I was very warm when I went to bed last night, had a hard time cooling down and going to sleep. I can’t sleep when I am all sweaty. I thought about jumping in the shower, but I can’t sleep with wet hair either. I finally figured out that I hadn’t turned on the ceiling fan when I turned on the other fan, that made the difference.

I read a book, and later in the day, after my nap, I got ambitious and started on the lower cupboards with the baskets. I need two more baskets to complete the project. I can easily put three baskets on a shelf, so I did all three on the lower shelf and will do two more on the upper shelf today after I go buy them. I also cleaned the strawberries I bought the other day. Today I will cut my watermelon so I can get rid of the rind with the garbage.

Got a phone call from the lady I had spoken to on Tuesday about Ody. They are coming down from Kingman to look at her today. They are supposed to be here around noon. I will go get her and bring her over to the empty lot next door where there are people around. That way I will also know that she will start. Before that I need to go to the post office and DG to get my two baskets. If I can get Ody sold, I can get at least another year out of it. And maybe the other part time position will come thru to stretch that out. I would have to be frugal, but it beats working. And who knows what could happen in that year. Look at all the changes I have been thru in the last year.

The full moon was still up when I got back from my walk this morning so I got a picture of it over my place. :)

I can’t seem to stay ahead of the leaves that blow onto the patio. They aren’t from any tree on my lot, I only have the grapefruit tree. They blow in from all over the neighborhood. It is very frustrating. I ended up buying a broom just to keep on the patio. I picked up a sweeper nozzle for the hose when I was at Walmart last week. I may try that this morning and see if it is easier than sweeping. I guess I am going to have to get a blower because the yard gets them too and it looks crappy.

It seems to be a little less humid this morning. Nice breeze at the moment. But the sun is up and it will be hot very soon. I don’t have much else to write about. Tomorrow I will make the italian salad for Saturday’s pot luck, and tomorrow night I am going over to Keith’s to watch the fireworks from his yard. Thinking I will take the scooter. It will be the first time I have driven it after dark. Will be interesting to see how good the headlight is.

  1. I love your fencing! I wonder if adding a couple more layers to it would keep the leaf trash out better?

    1. The reed fence only goes around two sides. Most of the leaves come over the fence, not thru it. They are from all the bottle trees in the park. Not much I can do about it except sweep them up or into the yard. I will need to get a blower at some point, can't rake the rocks very well.

  2. Yeah, that figures. You would have to build a giant screened in bird cage over your house and yard, ya know like those picnic food protectors but pterodactyl sized. lol :P

    1. While I'm at it, I will make some shade for my car. I'm having to borrow neighbors kool covers during the summer because of the sun.
